ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES (APC) POLICY

Alfred Nobel University Journal of Philology is a non-profit academic publication. All editorial activities are dedicated to maintaining open access to research results, ensuring high publication quality, and fostering international scholarly communication. The journal operates on a cost-recovery basis onlyall APC revenues are used exclusively to cover actual publishing expenses, such as peer review management, editing, technical support, archiving, and dissemination.

All articles published in Alfred Nobel University Journal of Philology are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, ensuring full open access to all published content.

The journal follows the Gold Open Access model, which allows readers to freely read, download, and reuse articles with proper citation of the original source. This approach promotes global dissemination of research results and enhances their visibility and impact within the academic community.

Free access to the published materials is supported through Article Processing Charges (APC), paid by the author, the author’s institution, or a sponsoring organization.

  1. Submission and Peer Review

The journal does not charge fees for manuscript submission or peer review. APC is payable only after the article has successfully passed peer review and is accepted for publication.

  1. Purpose and Allocation of the APC

The APC covers the costs associated with the following editorial and publishing services:

  • academic and language editing, typesetting, and figure/table formatting;
  • management and coordination of the peer review process;
  • article archiving, website hosting, maintenance, and IT support;
  • dissemination and promotion of published content (indexing, metadata maintenance, SEO, outreach activities);
  • layout design and printing of the journal issue;
  • author and reader support services.

The article processing charge is paid by the author after the Editor-in-Chief has made the decision to accept the article for publication.

Payment is made according to the bank details sent to the corresponding author together with the letter confirming the final approval of the publication text, after the issue content has been approved by the Editorial Board and the Academic Council of Alfred Nobel University.

  1. APC Amounts
  • For authors from Ukraine: publication fee is UAH 3 000
  • For authors from other countries: publication fee is $100.

The APC amount does not depend on the article length or format. The fee does not include the cost of printed copies. Authors may order a printed issue at an additional cost, which includes shipping expenses depending on the author’s country.

  1. Discounts and Waivers

Applicants of the third (PhD) level of higher education enrolled in state-funded programs at Ukrainian higher education institutions are exempt from any fees for processing, reviewing, and publishing articles, provided that their articles are authored individually (without co-authors).

The journal complies with the Fair Open Access Alliance principles and Plan S Principle 5, ensuring a transparent and fair cost structure.

  1. Refund Policy

Refunds are available only in exceptional cases where publication becomes impossible after the completion of the editorial process.

Refunds cannot be issued in the following cases:

  • article withdrawal by the author;
  • retraction or correction initiated by the Editorial Board;
  • force majeure circumstances;
  • unavailability or removal of the article from external platforms due to reasons beyond the journal’s control.
